ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Victoria Powell and I am a recent college graduate from The Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD). (Illustration Major, 3D Animation minor) I specialize in creature, character and costume design and aspire to be a concept artist once I graduate. I am mainly self-taught and am currently 22 years old and reside in Columbus, Ohio.
I come from a small rural town in Ohio called Marysville. I lived there practically my whole life. From the get-go I didn't tend to fit in with the popular groups and I was very different from the vast majority of people. Due to this, I mainly kept to myself. I mainly read books and drew to keep myself preoccupied. Ever since I was very young, I have always had a fascination with monsters and the grotesque. My love and passion for them grew stronger as I got older. I realized that monsters and I had a lot more in common than I had realized. Monsters have always been feared and questioned by the masses; something I experienced a lot of when I was young all the way up to my high school years.
My biggest inspiration in my art is Guillermo Del Toro. From a young age, his films and work showed me that monsters don't always have to be the bad guy; that monsters can be treated as equals and that they can have a driving purpose in film and entertainment.
Throughout my young art career, I am very lucky to have made many connections with professionals in the entertainment industry that support and encourage me and my journey as an artist. Many of the artists include Ronald Tardino, Imogene Chayes, Kyle Brown, Jerad Marantz and many others. They all have pushed and encouraged me as an artist, Jerad Marantz even showed some of my art to other professionals in the field while working on a Warner Brothers project! All of this support has pushed me to work harder as an artist.
